Religious Education
Religious Education Intent
At Our Lady of Lourdes RC Primary School, we hold the Gospel Values at the centre of our curriculum. We support our students as they navigate their faith journey to become dedicated Christians within our ever-changing world. We endeavour to work with parents and lead the children to a greater understanding of God and his role in their lives.
As a school within the Diocese of Brentwood, we follow the Come and See Scheme of work, developed to strengthen the children’s understanding of the Church, help them to navigate the Bible, explore the stories of Jesus within the New Testament and how best to respond to them. By studying our own faith, we become rounded future citizens and can open ourselves to understanding the range of religions.
We firmly believe that Religious Education provides children with opportunities to discover, develop and celebrate the gifts and talents that they and others have been given. We assist them to recognise chances to think and question more deeply in order to appreciate their own beliefs.
As well as learning opportunities within the classroom, the prayer life within the school exists to give children and individual opportunity to express themselves in a variety of forms. We support them in developing their relationship with God and being able to see him as a guide on our life journey. Our masses and assemblies include contributions from the children as they below more vocal in their religious experiences.
