Club Information
At Our Lady of Lourdes, we're proud to offer wraparound care that supports our families' busy lives. Our Breakfast and After-School Clubs provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can start and end their school day with confidence.
Is wraparound care right for your child?
We want every child to thrive in our clubs, which is why we work with parents to carefully consider whether the extended day is the right fit for each individual child at this stage of their development. We are committed to working with families to support inclusion and to consider each child’s individual needs on a case-by-case basis.
What helps children succeed in our clubs?
Children tend to settle well into our Breakfast and After-School Clubs when they can:
- Feel confident separating from their grown-up at drop-off time
- Manage personal care independently, including using the toilet without adult help
- Follow instructions from the adults running the club
- Stay engaged throughout the longer day without becoming overtired
- Mix happily with children from different year groups
- Show growing independence in the school environment
Why does this matter?
Extended days can be tiring for young children. We want to make sure that attending our clubs supports your child's wellbeing and helps them flourish, rather than leaving them overwhelmed or exhausted.
How we support your child's journey
Before your child starts
We'll work closely with you to understand your child's individual needs by:
- Having a conversation with you and your child's class teacher
- Observing how your child is settling into school life
- Considering with you whether wraparound care is appropriate at this time
- Reviewing their readiness regularly as they grow and develop
Building readiness together
If we feel your child would benefit from a little more time before joining our clubs, we'll support you by:
- Identifying specific areas where your child can build confidence
- Sharing practical ideas for developing independence at home
- Planning a gradual introduction to the clubs when the time is right
- Checking in regularly to celebrate progress
Where appropriate, we may also involve our Pastoral Leader or SENDCo to discuss how we can best support your child to be ready for wraparound provision.
Our commitment to you
We're here to work in partnership with you to ensure every child has the best possible experience. We will always consider each child individually and work with parents to make decisions that support the child’s wellbeing, safety and successful participation in the club. We are committed to treating every child fairly and to working with families to support access to our provision wherever reasonably possible. In some circumstances, we may agree that a child’s needs are not currently best met within the wraparound club environment, but any decisions will be made carefully, individually and in partnership with parents, with your child’s wellbeing and safety at the centre.
If you have any questions about whether our clubs are right for your child, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
